Paula Badosa captured the WTA 125 title in Båstad, Sweden, a result that moves her closer to re-entering the WTA top 100.

The victory marks a significant step in the Spaniard’s recovery from injuries that have derailed her career in recent seasons. The former world No. 2 has been working her way back up the rankings through the secondary circuit after falling out of the elite bracket.

The Båstad title is her most important result in that rebuilding process to date. The points gained from the WTA 125 event put her in position to approach the top 100 threshold, according to journalist José Morgado.

Badosa reached a career-high ranking of No. 2 before physical setbacks interrupted her trajectory at the top of the sport.
