Eala reaches Wimbledon third round, makes history for the Philippines

Her next opponent is Iga Swiatek, the tournament’s defending champion, who dispatched Karolina Pliskova 6-1, 6-3 in the second round in under an hour on court.

Swiatek enters the third round without dropping a set. Eala carries the distinction of being the first Filipino woman at this stage of a Grand Slam, competing on the Church Road grass with little pressure and no precedent to protect.
