Jessica Pegula advanced to the Cincinnati semifinals after a 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(4) win over Amanda Anisimova in the WTA 1000 quarterfinals.

The match was decided in a third-set tie-break. Pegula took the opener, Anisimova answered in the second, and Pegula closed the contest 7-6(4) to move into the semifinals.

According to the tournament, the victory was Pegula’s 44th of the season, the most on the WTA Tour, and marked her return to the Cincinnati semifinals.
