Elina Svitolina saved seven match points and defeated Tereza Valentova 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-0 at the WTA 1000 Cincinnati.
The Ukrainian saw the match slipping away in the second set, trailing 2-5 in the tie-break. She then saved seven match points, one after another, to turn the set around.
In the third set, Svitolina capitalized on her opponent’s loss of confidence and closed it out 6-0.
With the victory, she advanced to the next round of the tournament.
