Frances Tiafoe came from a set down to defeat Marin Cilic 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 on hard court at the Montreal Masters.

The American dropped the opening set before taking control and closing out the next two sets by identical 6-2 scores. Cilic, a former Grand Slam champion, was unable to sustain his early momentum as Tiafoe raised his level after the opening set.

The match was played on the hard courts of the Masters 1000 event in Montreal. Tiafoe’s comeback victory sends him through to the third round.
