Lilli Tagger wins first WTA title in Prague at 18
Austrian teenager Lilli Tagger claimed her first WTA title on Sunday, defeating Daria Snigur in the Prague final.
Tagger, 18, needed one hour and 29 minutes to beat the Ukrainian 7-6 (7-3), according to TenisBrasil. The victory at the WTA 250 event marks her first title of significance on the professional circuit.
The Austrian had eliminated home favorite Barbora Krejcikova in the semifinals to reach the championship match. Snigur advanced by defeating Tereza Valentova, preventing an all-Czech final.
Tagger is regarded as one of the leading prospects in women’s tennis.
