Rio Open
The only ATP 500 tournament in South America, played at the Jockey Club Brasileiro since 2014. Brazil's most important tennis event.
About the tournament
The Rio Open is the only ATP 500 tournament played in South America. Held annually at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro, it draws some of the world’s best players every February, at the start of the clay-court season.
Since its first edition in 2014, the Rio Open has cemented Brazil’s status as a must-stop destination on the men’s tour. The tournament is played on clay under the Rio sun, with a center court capacity of roughly 10,000 spectators.
Champions
Spain’s Rafael Nadal was unable to play the inaugural edition due to injury — opening the door for David Ferrer to win the first title. Since then, players such as Dominic Thiem, Laslo Djere and Carlos Alcaraz have added their names to the list of champions.
In doubles, João Fonseca and Marcelo Melo won the title in 2026, giving Brazil a rare moment: doubles champions on home soil.
Brazilians at the Rio Open
No Brazilian has won the singles title to date — which makes every home campaign a story of its own. João Fonseca reached the quarterfinals in 2026, the best result by a Brazilian in singles in recent years.
Tickets
Ticket sales for the Rio Open typically open in November of the previous year, exclusively through Eventim Brasil. The 2026 edition had tickets starting at R$ 60, with no service fee, and a limit of four tickets per session per CPF (Brazilian individual taxpayer ID).
