Félix Auger-Aliassime will compete through the US Open without a head coach after ending his nearly decade-long partnership with Frédéric Fontang.

The Canadian, currently ranked fourth in the world, confirmed he will not appoint a new coach until after the US Open concludes, according to TenisBrasil. He will navigate the North American hard-court summer — including the year’s final Grand Slam — without a permanent technical leader.

The player and Fontang worked together for close to ten years before the split. Auger-Aliassime now plans to use the upcoming weeks to evaluate options before making a longer-term decision.

The timing places one of the tour’s top-ranked players in an unconventional position during a critical portion of the season. He is expected to begin his US Open preparation at summer hard-court events in the coming weeks.
