Baez and Tirante advance to Montreal Masters second round
Argentinians Sebastian Baez and Thiago Tirante won their opening matches to reach the second round of the Montreal Masters 1000.
Thiago Tirante needed three sets to defeat home player Duncan Chan in his first-round match, according to TenisBrasil. The victory sets up a second-round encounter with Taylor Fritz.
Sebastian Baez also progressed through his opening match in Montréal to advance to the next stage of the tournament.
The pair were the first Argentinians to take the court on Tuesday at the Canadian Masters 1000 event.
