Carolina Bohrer defeated fellow teenager Vitoria Zuccon to become the first Brazilian winner in the main draw of the Santos Brasil Tennis Classic.

The 18-year-old from Santa Catarina prevailed against 16-year-old Zuccon, who entered the W35 clay-court event as a wildcard, according to TenisBrasil. The match marked a clash between two of the tournament’s youngest competitors at the Esporte Clube Pinheiros venue in São Paulo.

Bohrer’s victory opened the Brazilian account in the main draw after earlier rounds. Two other Brazilian players, Carol Meligeni and Luiza Fullana, are scheduled to begin their campaigns on Wednesday.

The Santos Brasil Tennis Classic forms part of the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour at the W35 level, one tier below the WTA Challenger circuit.
