Grigor Dimitrov defeated Jakub Mensik 7-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the second round at Wimbledon, advancing to the third round of the British Grand Slam.
The 35-year-old Bulgarian surrendered his serve early in the fourth set before regaining control and closing the match on Court 1 with volley winners at the key moments. Mensik had leveled the contest by taking the second set, forcing Dimitrov to respond in the third — which he did without dropping serve.
Fourth set ends the contest
Mensik’s pressure in the fourth set threatened to reopen the match. It did not. Dimitrov converted the break and gave the Czech no further openings.
The four-set scoreline reflects the action: the first two sets contested point by point, the final two with the veteran in command. In the third round, Dimitrov faces Matteo Berrettini.
