Brazilians advance in junior doubles as quarterfinals take shape at Wimbledon

Victoria Barros and Nauhany Silva, the No. 1 seeds in the girls’ doubles draw, opened their Wimbledon campaign Monday with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over two British opponents. Guto Miguel and Pedro Chabalgoity also won in the boys’ doubles draw, each alongside his respective partner — three Brazilian-involved doubles in action, three victories.
Fritz, Paolini, Cobolli, Noskova reach quarterfinals
Taylor Fritz eliminated Alexander Bublik 7-6 (7-1), 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour and 39 minutes to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the fourth time in his career. Flavio Cobolli, ranked 10th, advanced to the quarterfinals for the second consecutive year, a run that included the elimination of Alex de Minaur.
Jasmine Paolini returned to a Grand Slam quarterfinal after playing just one grass-court match before Wimbledon this season, having fallen in her opener at Eastbourne. Linda Noskova reached the quarterfinals for the first time in four tournament appearances, defeating Madison Keys 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).
Barros and Silva return to the court next in the round of 16 of the girls’ doubles draw.
