Alexandra Eala became the first Filipino woman to reach a Grand Slam third round, advancing to the third round of Wimbledon 2026 with a result no other Filipino woman had achieved at any major.
Her next opponent is Iga Swiatek, the tournament’s defending champion, who dispatched Karolina Pliskova 6-1, 6-3 in the second round in under an hour on court.

Swiatek enters the third round without dropping a set. Eala carries the distinction of being the first Filipino woman at this stage of a Grand Slam, competing on the Church Road grass with little pressure and no precedent to protect.
