João Fonseca will meet Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round of the Montreal Masters 1000 at noon Brasília time on Wednesday.

The match marks Fonseca’s first appearance on court at the tournament. The Brazilian, ranked 27th, drew a first-round bye as a seeded player.

Tsitsipas, currently 53rd in the ATP rankings and a former top-10 player, secured his place in the second round by defeating Nicolai Damm. The Greek’s victory set up a rematch with the 18-year-old, who had already faced him earlier in 2025.

The encounter will be broadcast on ESPN and Disney+.

According to TenisBrasil, Fonseca would need to reach at least the semifinals in Montreal to break into the top 20 of the ATP rankings for the first time.
