Fonseca to be seeded at Montreal Masters after Alcaraz withdrawal
João Fonseca gains seeding at the Montreal Masters 1000 following Carlos Alcaraz's withdrawal from the hard-court tournament.
João Fonseca will be a seeded player at the Montreal Masters 1000 after Carlos Alcaraz withdrew from the tournament, according to TenisBrasil.
Alcaraz, who had delayed his return to competition, is the only absence among the top 72 ranked players entered in the Canadian event. The tournament, to be held from August 2 to 12 on hard courts, released its entry list this Thursday.
Fonseca returns to the ATP Tour following an injury layoff, as previously reported on July 8. The Brazilian’s seeding marks his continued rise on the circuit.
The tournament takes place on synthetic surface in Montréal, Canada.
