Gabriela Cé lost her opening match at the W75 Koksijde clay-court event in Belgium, remaining outside the WTA top 300.
The Brazilian was beaten by Spain’s Ane Mintegi, ranked 296th, 6-4, 6-3 in a match lasting one hour and 53 minutes, according to TenisBrasil.
Cé had been seeking to re-enter the top 300 of the WTA rankings with a run at the ITF tournament. The defeat in her first match means that goal remains on hold.
The W75 event in Koksijde is played on outdoor clay courts.
