Laura Pigossi captured the W100 Gran Canaria singles title on clay, coming from behind to defeat Turkey's Berfu Cengiz 6-7, 6-1, 6-3.
Laura Pigossi won the W100 Gran Canaria title on Sunday in Maspalomas. The Brazilian rallied past Turkey’s Berfu Cengiz, 6-7, 6-1, 6-3 on clay.
Cengiz, ranked 353rd on the WTA list, took the opening set. Pigossi then dominated with a 6-1 second set and closed 6-3 in the third.
The win returns Pigossi to the WTA top 200, according to TenisBrasil. It is her first singles title of the season.
