Poland’s Maja Chwalinska will miss next week’s WTA 250 event in Hamburg after failing to recover from an ankle injury sustained at Wimbledon.
The 22-year-old suffered the injury during the grass-court Grand Slam. While her recovery is progressing positively, her medical team has determined she will not be fit in time for the tournament, according to TenisBrasil.
Chwalinska is following her doctors’ recommendation to continue rehabilitation rather than risk returning to competition prematurely. The WTA 250 in Hamburg is scheduled to begin in the coming days.
She has not disclosed a target date for her competitive return.
