Musetti wins Montreal opener in first Masters 1000 since May return
Lorenzo Musetti defeated qualifier Nicolas Mejia to reach the third round of the Montreal Masters 1000.
Lorenzo Musetti defeated qualifier Nicolas Mejia 7-6 (10-8), 6-2 in his Montreal Masters 1000 debut, reaching the third round.
The Italian, competing in only his second tournament since May 2024, needed a tight first-set tie-break to overcome the Colombian. Musetti saved pressure in the breaker before taking control in the second set.
The victory marks Musetti’s 10th win of the year on hard courts. He had received a bye into the second round.
Musetti advances to the third round of the Montreal Masters 1000.
