Nauhany Silva defeated fellow Brazilian Carol Meligeni 7-5, 6-3 on Tuesday to reach the quarterfinals of the W75 clay-court event in Vacaria, Rio Grande do Sul.

The all-Brazilian clash in the round of 16 sends Silva to the last eight. She joins Laura Pigossi and Pietra Rivoli, who had already secured their quarterfinal spots earlier in the schedule.

With three Brazilians remaining in the draw, the host nation will have multiple representatives in the quarterfinal stage.

Silva will face the tournament’s top seed in her next match.
