World No. 1 junior Guto Miguel was eliminated from Wimbledon’s junior draw Tuesday, falling to American left-hander Jack Secord 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 in the second round.

Miguel took the opening set but lost control of the match from the second set on. Secord, capitalizing on every hesitation from the Brazilian, surrendered only four games across the final two sets to seal the victory.

The loss arrives with added weight given what Miguel brought into the All England Club: a Roland Garros Juniors title and the top seed. Neither credential was enough to prevent an early exit.

Secord advances to the third round, where he could face other seeded players. Miguel returns to the ITF junior circuit for the remainder of his season.
