Sinner reaches Wimbledon semis for third time; Gauff completes Grand Slam milestone
Sinner and Gauff both advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals Tuesday, while Zverev's quarterfinal was suspended and will resume Wednesday.
Jannik Sinner defeated Jan-Lennard Struff 7-5, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in two hours and 35 minutes to reach the Wimbledon semifinals for the third time in his career. The defending champion opened the men’s quarterfinal schedule on Centre Court.
Coco Gauff came from a set down to defeat fellow American Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in one hour and 53 minutes. The victory puts Gauff in a Wimbledon semifinal for the first time and completes a milestone: she has now reached the last four at every Grand Slam tournament.
Alexander Zverev’s quarterfinal against Jiri Lehecka was suspended due to London’s curfew with Zverev leading 6-4, 7-5, 3-3. Play will resume Wednesday. Former player Andrea Petkovic noted that the interruption cost Zverev a rest day he would otherwise have had before his next match.
