Thiago Wild wins Zug Challenger 125, seals US Open qualifying spot
Thiago Wild defeated Marc-Andrea Huesler 6-4, 6-3 to win the Zug Challenger 125 in Switzerland on Sunday.
The victory marked Wild’s most significant title in three years, according to TenisBrasil. The Brazilian needed one hour and 19 minutes to overcome the Swiss host player on clay.
The win brought the 27-year-old his 11th professional trophy and seventh on the Challenger circuit. It also guaranteed his place in the US Open qualifying draw.
Wild will next compete in the US Open qualifying rounds, which begin Aug. 19 in New York.
