Thiago Agustín Tirante defeated seventh seed Taylor Fritz 7-5, 6-3 in the Montreal Masters 1000 first round on Wednesday, just two days after the American won the Washington ATP 500.
The Argentine needed one hour and 29 minutes to advance. According to TenisBrasil, Fritz felt physical weariness from his recent title run.
Arthur Fils and Hubert Hurkacz also advanced in the Montreal draw.
Tirante moves on to the second round of the tournament.
