Roman Burruchaga eliminated top-seeded Flavio Cobolli 6-2, 6-4 in the opening round of the ATP 250 in Umag, Croatia.

The Argentine, ranked 67th in the ATP rankings, needed one hour and 40 minutes to dismiss the Italian. It marked Cobolli’s first appearance at the Croatian clay-court event.

Burruchaga controlled the match from the outset, conceding only six games to the highest-ranked player in the draw. The result represents a significant early upset at the tournament.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina also advanced in the Umag draw.
