The American struck 14 aces en route to a 6-3, 6-4 victory over the Polish player in one hour and 15 minutes. Fritz, ranked 10th in the world, secured his second win of the tournament to book his place in the last eight. Majchrzak, ranked 72nd, was unable to handle the home favorite’s powerful serve, according to TenisBrasil.
Fritz will face his next opponent in the quarterfinals as he continues his pursuit of the Washington title.
