Matos, Luz and Demoliner eliminated in Wimbledon second round
Three Brazilians fall in the second round at the All England Club. João Fonseca remains the country's only representative, already through to the third round.
Rafael Matos, Orlando Luz and Marcelo Demoliner all fell in the second round at Wimbledon, leaving João Fonseca as Brazil’s sole remaining player in the draw.
Demoliner rallied to turn his match around but could not convert, falling in the end. Matos and Luz also exited on the London grass without advancing further. Brazil’s women’s draw had already lost Beatriz Haddad Maia in the opening round.
Fonseca into the third round
Fonseca moved into the second week as the only Brazilian still alive, advancing further than any compatriot in this edition. His third-round opponent will determine how deep a run he can make at the All England Club.
