Linda Noskova defeated Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 6-4 to reach her first major final and set up an all-Czech Wimbledon championship match.

The 20-year-old Czech converted her promise into a landmark result on Thursday, advancing past Ukraine’s Kostyuk in straight sets. Noskova controlled the semifinal from start to finish, never dropping serve in a composed performance.

“I stayed calm the whole time, which was the main goal,” Noskova said afterward, according to The Guardian. She added that she tends to process success only after a tournament concludes, and that her attention had already shifted to the final.

The victory guarantees a Czech champion at Wimbledon, with Noskova awaiting the winner of the other semifinal between two compatriots. The final marks her first appearance in a Grand Slam title match, capping a breakthrough fortnight for a player previously regarded as one of the tour’s most threatening unproven talents at the major level.

Noskova had arrived at the All England Club without a prior deep run at a Grand Slam. Her semifinal win over Kostyuk, the 21st seed, ended that narrative and positioned her one victory from the sport’s most prestigious prize.
