Russian teenager Kristina Liutova eliminated compatriot Ekaterina Alexandrova in her first WTA main-draw appearance.
Kristina Liutova, 16, led the match 7-6 (7-2), 4-6, 5-4 when the report was published, according to TenisBrasil. The result came against Ekaterina Alexandrova, 31, who is ranked 19th in the world.
The victory marked Liutova’s first appearance at a top-tier WTA event. Alexandrova had entered the match as the higher-ranked player.
